Tanya Hansen is a Canadian actress, director and producer. She began her career doing background work in Vancouver, BC. Most notably, she was a permit extra on The Commish (1991) and continued to work as a background performer from 1991 to 1999 on a variety of television productions and full length feature movies such as The Diary of Evelyn Lay and Leaving Normal, among others. She then did occasional background work and theatre between 2000 and 2020. She had her first speaking role in the Sci-Fi film Mayflower ii (2020). She then appeared in Alive (2021) as Harley's mom, followed by her roles in The Celebration (2022) and A Twist of Tea (2022). She has also recently done background work on the hallmark series Ride; the feature movie The Affair Conspiracy; and an uncredited role in the Short Film, The Shoe Thief.
Hansen was born in Vancouver, BC. She moved to Calgary, Alberta in 2001 with her husband. Hansen is a Professional Psychologist and began pursuing speaking roles in her spare time after receiving her Masters Degree in Psychology in 2019.
In June 2022 Hansen appeared in the short film Alive (2022) after a two year gap. She and her daughter, Stacie Hansen, then went on to make 3 more films after the premiere of Alive. A month later she was in another movie, A Twist of Tea (2022) playing the role of "Goddess Teaia". Most recently, Hansen has been linked to a new film called Bystander (2023). Written and Co-directed by Stacie Hansen. Hansen took on the role of "Undercover Officer" alongside Co-directing the film.
